My Journey with CFS

Nutrition. Love. Healing.

Powered by Blogger.

I had a great Christmas, finally feeling much better after my 6 weeks of a temporary relapse.

My parents are so hard to buy for, so my sister and I decided to take them out for a meal instead, they both do so much for me all year round.
At the beginning of December we all went to Rosso in Manchester and it was a lovely evening. They had a singer in that night so it was a great atmosphere. My sister & I were slightly heartbroken we were one night too late, the previous night Louis from One Direction had been in but anyway, I was so thankful I was well enough to go! I never take it for granted the stolen times I can go out & enjoy myself.

Of two American Apparel hoodies, teddies, treats & Pudeys book. The most spoilt Cockapoos EVER.

We had 15 family members at our house this christmas. It was mayhem but fun. It was all my dads side of the family +3 dogs.
We had ALOT of food, fun, 1 fire, lots of Champagne & presents.
I am not sure how I lastest all day & all night, I think it was the numerous glasses of Champagne & chocolate.

I hope you all had a great Christmas.
The next few days are definitely rest days for me, hopefully being able to catch up with friends who are home for a while and eating the mountains of left over food.
Heres to hoping I continue to feel better.

To be well I know I have to be strict & do certain things to help my body but I've been thinking... The only way I can stick to this routine of eating well, yoga, meditation, fresh air, vitamins, mild exercise & major detoxing in order to get better, I need to fly to a desert island.
So I figured I can dream...

Sit in this seat & get a tan... whilst 'earthing' with my feet in the sea, being in touch with the earth & it's healing properties

(This book on Earthing is great)

Eat the right foods & drinks... healthy cocktails!!

Soak up the vitamin D to help mood

Laugh

Sleep

Meditation, yoga, relaxation

Along with some healthy, detoxing spa treatments. Massage. Facials. Exfoliation.

I know these places do exist in the UK & abroad for a weekend or longer, but they are wayyy out of my price range, I'd need to go for like... months!! Wouldn't it be amazing if the NHS supplied us with this!

Here is a quick story I always read when I am close to giving up:

I don't know who is familiar with Alex Howard co-founder of The Optimum Health Clinic in London. I've met him & read his book, 'Why Me' & one particular bit which always sticks out to me is a phone call between him and his uncle...

When he was very very poorly and in a bad place he called his uncle and said "I can't cope, I'm not strong enough to fight anymore I want to give up"
His uncle replied "I have a question. On a scale of 1-10 how badly would you do anything to be well?"
"A nine or a ten - I would do almost anything".
His uncle told him to go and make a list of what he knew he could do each day to help him get better.

Alex straight away got to work on his list, his 'special diet', reading yoga, psychology & M.E books, re-starting the qigong (a form of meditation). Writing this list made him realise how little he actually knew about M.E.
He called his uncle back with the list and he asked "How many hours a day do you do these things?"
"Erm, well I do the diet but as for the others I don't have the energy, all my energy goes on school work".
"So you said you are a nine/ten yet you spend no time on the things you think yourself might help? I'm not judging but you asked for my advice. If you really are a nine/ten you would be utilising your time better. You have to make the most of your time. Most people in your position resign themselves to the practices of conventional medicine but as you know they don't get far. If it is important enough for you, then you have to be different."
Alex then wondered was his uncle right? Plus did he really think Alex had it in him to prove everyone wrong to turn his life around? That one conversation spurred him on to change his life. Yes he has down times but through alternative medicine he now lives a normal life & even started his own M.E/CFS clinic on Harley Street in London & he is such a fountain of knowledge, he is amazing to speak to & aspire to.

I know all the above will greatly help me:

  • Meditation
  • Gently Yoga - Yoga for Fatigue
  • Diet
  • Gentle exercise
  • Fresh air
  • Earthing - What is Earthing
  • Limiting Electromagnetic Stress (wifi, mobile phone, cordless phones, sky, TV)
  • Detoxing

It's so hard to keep up living such an extreme healthy lifestyle in the modern world. It's so expensive and taboo. I feel I stick out like a sore thumb among 'normal people' but I have people in my life who believe I can also change my life around with this way of life and healing, some have even done it. They still have 100% faith in me so I guess I need to prove them right aswell. Writing this had highlighted to me I need to make a bigger conscious effort. After all I am a ten on wanting to be better.
