My Journey with CFS

Nutrition. Love. Healing.

I thought I would blog about my current treatment protocol because alot of people have been asking lately where I am at with treatment/recovery.

Number One: Cowden Protocol
I am still under Dr Myhill's watch but I haven't had a consultation with her in... about 6 months.
Since we looked into the Lyme Disease, my protocol changed.
I am now on the Cowden Protocol from NutraMedix, a whole combination of different herbal drops. It is designed for Lyme Disease patients but it can help with so many things, it claims to help with most chronic illnesses.
It personally works brilliantly for me, I was briefly on it years and years ago but this was only one product Samento - their best selling product. I am now on the whole protocol, I order so much from them they now know me when I call, thats not good, I obviously call too much.
I am on 12 of their liquid products and 3 different types of capsules most all include:-
Anti-inflammatory
Antiviral
Antibacterial
Antifungal
Antiparasitic

Number Two - Dr Myhill & Diet
I am still on medication for an under-active thyroid, hypertension, anti-depressants and sleeping pills.

I am trying to stick to Dr Myhill's anti-candida diet. My candida test came back as severe so for me its a diet of:-
No-
Sugar
Wheat/gluten
Dairy
Carbohydrates (including rice & potatoes)
Fruit (due to the high sugar content)
Alcohol (due to the yeast content)

Literally - Meat, fish, protein
Vegetables (as many and as varied as possible)
Water - filtered
All organic as much as I can

All this said, I do have 'off' days. I was saying to someone recently, I did this diet religiously for 3 weeks and I felt so much better but my mood was on the floor. I personally gain more from having 'naughty' days and enjoying those occasional foods than never ever having a glass of wine or a piece of chocolate or a pizza. Thats just my personal preference.

I cannot rate Dr Myhill high enough, she is a fantastic specialist and her knowledge of M.E/CFS (along with other chronic illnesses) is overwhelming. She has helped my recovery immeasurably & I trust her completely with my health.

Number Three - CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
I only see my CBT psychologist when I desperately need her, so I went in December during my relapse but I feel alot more positive now. Once you have been through CBT I find it so useful to use almost daily, she has taught me tools to use when I find myself in a negative mindset. Small things we can all do.
Write down 3 positive things, it doesn't have to be huge eg. The sun came out - its still a positive thing.

Number Four - The Perrin Technique
I still do The Perrin Technique, I do the drainage twice a day at home then I see my practitioner every month to check in with her and she can do spinal, neck manipulations to allow my toxins to drain efficiently. This technique is designed to rid my body of the excess toxins my body holds onto and to encourage the drainage of the lymphatic system so my body doesn't become to 'toxic' and enflamed.
